Happy birthday my love

I want to wish my wonderful wife a happy birthday as we count down to midnight and celebrate in the African heat.

Rebekka you have the most amazing personality and radiate goodness in a way Shakespeare would have found difficult to express. I'm lucky to know you and perhaps one of the most fortunate people in the world to be married to you. I love you ...... that simple, I ... LOVE ... YOU.

How low can you go?

Arrived in Struisbaai today. This small town boarders the most southern settlement in Africa. Contrary to popular belief Cape point is NOT the most southern point, but rather Cape Aghulas and we went for a boat ride with friends, the Mostert family, and had a drink  few hundred meters more south.

Little italy

Inside the casino it looked like a town in Italy. Nonna explained me, that there exists a town in Italy called Montecassino and they took this town as a module to build this casino

We gambled a bit and then went for a nice lunch in an italian restaurant. 

Funny enough more then half of the dishes were not italian dishes..... There were strange combinations like fegato di pollo (chicken liver) with pasta or pizza with peaces of chicken on top.... but we made good choices, I had soup and bruschetta, Damien had an antipasto platter and a pizza con gamberi (prawns) Nonna enjoyed a chicken schnitzel

Then we took a stroll trough the town

and had a look at the pretty christmas decorations

Was having a look at the analytics today and noticed some interesting stats. Granted there needs to be more activity in future and I'm hoping you can all help us with this :)

As you can see below these are the page views by browser which is an interesting insight into our friends and followers. Firstly it seems most of us use Mac, yay, given Safari only ships with Mac machines. 

But at the same time this saddening as Safari is the top used browser. (seriously???)

This is an indication that either Google has not done a good enough job of communicating to you the wonderful power of Chrome or you just don't care. I mean don't get me wrong I'm over the moon that basically IE (explorer) came in last for desktop browsers, but only to be parred with Chrome. If I could choose it would be Chrome, Firefox, Safari, mobile browsers. 

Yes I know most of you (Safari users) will now say I'm being biest and favouring Google products. Well in essence I am cause they're just really good and make your life easier.

Anyway, just my little geeky comment, use it don't use it, but really give it a try ;-)

How sweet it is ...

The ladies enjoying a game a cards on our newly laid tiles. How sweet it is to complete a project. What a cool project it was. Way more work than I anticipated though so worth it. Was good fun in the beginning and became more difficult as we went on. So many interruptions and heat to melt candles in the day made it hard to keep a decent pace, until we decided to work in the evening and into the night. What a genius move. Now we where cool, undisturbed and most of all motivated.

We finished the work this morning at 04:00.........

@ mgi, thank you so much for your wedding gift, the tent rocks!

We tested it in the garden of Nonna's house and its super spacious for a 2 man tent

We wanted to go camping this week end, but heavy rainfalls crossed our plans.....
So when the weather finally cleared up on Sunday,
we decided to go to the Rietvlei Dam to catch some fish

Whilst the guys were working very hard, I relaxed with reading and, as usual, taking pictures

But the fish was too small and therefore we let him go and proceeded with plan 2 for lunch :-)

We stayed at the dam the whole day until sunset.

Monday, 19th November

Damien has decided to take care of Nonna's witch room.
This is her lounge/living room, its very cosy in there, if it wasn't for that old carpet, it keeps the dust and in all honesty, it really needs to go out...

Tuesday, 20th November

Cleaning up and sweating in 34 degrees......

After we gave the floor a good clean, we went to the Chamberlain store to get all the "ingredients" we needed. Tile Adhesive, Grout, Sponges etc. and the fun can start.....

Wednesday, 21st November

Its about 34 to 36 degrees again, just the right temperature to work in the witch room behind glass windows.....  So I decided, rather to get involved in documenting the renovation. I mean taking photos is also very tiring. Really!

Finished! All tiles are in!

Its quite a good feeling to do something yourself, we never thought that we would be doing this kind of work, but it was fun

Now all we need to do is to put in the grout and then, voilà Nonna will have a witch room easy to clean and less dusty :-)
