Gonna see my idol

I love it when things come together. My musical hero is in South Africa and I have managed to get tickets. Was a long shot, but it worked. And now it all I can think about. Everyday will be a marathon of Sixto Rodriguez albums, namely "Cold Fact" and "Coming From Reality" in preparation for our performance in unison. Must sound the same ... lol. It's great to get so excited about a musician again. And in this case it really isn't just any musician, this is Rodriguez. A lyricist few could match who breathed the stench of the inner city and poisoned the paper with lead whilst sining it to music written as if from a time that was always that was never. Beuatiful....

Back to the 80ies

We had such a good weekend. Damien's mom invited us to go to an 80ies party last Friday. It was from 30 years up, so I thought it would be best to bring my ID with. But then at the entrance, the bouncer didn't even ask for my ID! Do I really look 30??? ;-)
Before letting us in, he handed us a little bottle of shampoo, so I asked him what kind of party was going on in there..... he laughed and pointed at the promotion they were doing. To my question if this shampoo would be good for my straight hair, he started to search in the basket until he found the matching conditioner :-) what a nice bouncer! The music in the beginning was so so, but then it got better, or was it the tequila? :-) Even though me and Damien were born in the 80ies, there were many songs we had never heard. It was great to watch Damien's mom and his uncle looking at each other with excitement to hear these songs again. I wish I would have taken pics or even better video of the crowd. Some people rockt up with perm-hairstyles and funky moustaches, tight tiger body suits and flash gordon t-shirts tucked in their jeans, wich were pulled up above the waist. The best about all of this was, that it didn't seem, that they dressed up... they just kept the style from the 80ies and carried it trough :-)

Happy birthday my love

I want to wish my wonderful wife a happy birthday as we count down to midnight and celebrate in the African heat.

Rebekka you have the most amazing personality and radiate goodness in a way Shakespeare would have found difficult to express. I'm lucky to know you and perhaps one of the most fortunate people in the world to be married to you. I love you ...... that simple, I ... LOVE ... YOU.

Please join me in wishing Rebekka a Happy birthday!

How low can you go?

Arrived in Struisbaai today. This small town boarders the most southern settlement in Africa. Contrary to popular belief Cape point is NOT the most southern point, but rather Cape Aghulas and we went for a boat ride with friends, the Mostert family, and had a drink  few hundred meters more south.

Wedding pictures!

In german there is a saying "gut Ding will Weile haben"
the english version would probably be something like "good things come to those who wait"

Our wedding pics have finally arrived and its just wonderful to "re live" our wedding day again by looking at the photos

This link will take you to our photographers website

He will create an online gallery for us, which we can share with you

Little italy

Inside the casino it looked like a town in Italy. Nonna explained me, that there exists a town in Italy called Montecassino and they took this town as a module to build this casino

La Nonna e diventata poliziotta
We gambled a bit and then went for a nice lunch in an italian restaurant.
Funny enough more then half of the dishes were not italian dishes..... There were strange combinations like fegato di pollo (chicken liver) with pasta or pizza with peaces of chicken on top.... but we made good choices, I had soup and bruschetta, Damien had an antipasto platter and a pizza con gamberi (prawns) Nonna enjoyed a chicken schnitzel

Then we took a stroll trough the town
and had a look at the pretty christmas decorations

"Tisk tisk"

Was having a look at the analytics today and noticed some interesting stats. Granted there needs to be more activity in future and I'm hoping you can all help us with this :)

As you can see below these are the page views by browser which is an interesting insight into our friends and followers. Firstly it seems most of us use Mac, yay, given Safari only ships with Mac machines.

But at the same time this saddening as Safari is the top used browser. (seriously???)
This is an indication that either Google has not done a good enough job of communicating to you the wonderful power of Chrome or you just don't care. I mean don't get me wrong I'm over the moon that basically IE (explorer) came in last for desktop browsers, but only to be parred with Chrome. If I could choose it would be Chrome, Firefox, Safari, mobile browsers.

Yes I know most of you (Safari users) will now say I'm being biest and favouring Google products. Well in essence I am cause they're just really good and make your life easier.

Anyway, just my little geeky comment, use it don't use it, but really give it a try ;-)

Peace and love to you all
